The Book Art project has been promoting and encouraging any unconventional attitudes about books. It deals with book-objects, book-installations, one-offs, author's books, artist's books, writer's books, experimental and limited editions, fine press books, etc.
The core of the project is an exhibition composed of works selected in a competition and those made by the artists invited by the organisers. After the premiere the exhibition is shown in many prestigious venues (art galleries and libraries) throughout Poland and abroad.
In the beginning the exhibitions were titled Contemporary Polish Book Art, then just Book Art. Every new edition was bigger than the former one, with more and more participants, more and more various presentations, shows, workshops, encounters, education projects accompanying it. That is why the seventh edition was transformed into the International Book Art Festival and for the first time had a given topic: WANDERING (to get more information see 'Archives').
Each edition had an unconventionally designed catalogue containing colour pictures of exhibited items, artists' short biographies and opinions about their work, various essays and reviews, a lot of pieces of useful information valuable both for ordinary book lovers and those ones professionally dealing with books (to get more information about our publications see 'Bibliography'). So is this time. The TIME catalogue was designed by Elżbieta Banecka and Marek Gajewski. The following texts can be found in it:
Ewa Latkowska-Żychska "Time, what is it?"
Marek Gajewski "A book"
Jadwiga Tryzno "The book's time"
Andrzej Marian Bartczak "Thirty years of my artist's books"
Radosław Nowakowski "Time-book - book-time"
